Who we are and What we do
Creating spaces and infrastructure that benefit people and nature for generations.

About us
Community Stewardship Solutions (CSS) is a specialist stewardship and placemaking consultancy that has evolved through nearly thirty years of experience. We support national and local organisations, to ensure responsibility is taken for the long-term protection, wellbeing, and success of new and existing communities.
Working within major new housing developments in urban areas, and smaller rural communities, planning and implementing strategies to bring about renewal through social, physical, and economic regeneration, we understand the importance of the design, implementation, management and maintenance of public open spaces, parks, housing and community assets and infrastructure. We are passionate about creating places and spaces thathave people and community at their heart.
Our Values
Our whole team are fully committed to creating new communities that residents are proud of and enjoy living in. This in turn, not only sells houses, but builds a sustainable community. Our role is to enable this to happen, working at every stage as required from concept through to implementation -with people (residents and local stakeholders) at the heart of the business planning and delivery strategies.
100% of all profits created by CSS are covenanted to our sister charity, Transformation Powerhouse, supporting adult survivors of Child Sexual Abuse.

Our Approach
Our approach uses models and best practice derived from hands on experience, but is always bespoke to each of our clients to ensure we deliver our services flexibly, effectively and cost-efficiently. We will provide you with an initial fee proposal which sets out the parameters of the required tasks and costs for the agreed outcome, which is tailored to suit your needs. From initial enquiry through to implementation, a number of monitoring procedures are in operation so that at any stage a client can receive feedback on process and qualitative matters to ensure the effective delivery.
National Context
When national policy referenced the ‘Garden City Principles’ in 2012, the issue of long-term stewardship then appeared in successive policies, legislation and guidance such as the ‘Green Infrastructure Framework (2023). The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) published a toolkit on long-term stewardship in 2023, which we advised on, bringing together Garden City principles, best practice, and shared learning to enable Councils, house builders and their delivery partners to plan and deliver on long-term stewardship solutions. These and more are adding to the challenges and opportunities to manage community assets amidst emerging legal requirements for environmental management and sustainable ecological benefits.

Our Services
We offer end-to-end solutions for sustainable placemaking—from community asset mapping and legal frameworks to stewardship planning, financial management, and long-term environmental support.
