Community Facilities and Activities Enabler

Maureen led on the initial development and activation of a groundbreaking community Trust – Caddington and Slip End (CaSE) – located in Caddington Woods, Central Bedfordshire (near Luton). She developed and implemented a community development strategy to integrate the residents within the 350 Redrow home development and the neighbouring villages and parishes of Slip End and Caddington Village through a range of community activities including instituting volunteer committees, two-week summer activities programme, project managing the final fit out of the community centre, and planning the launch for the opening. Maureen has recently been asked to return to act as interim CEO to take it to its next level and oversee its land and facilities management (including surrounding woodlands), property portfolio, and bus service.

Maureen’s community development and engagement skills have been further established through avenues such as recently leading on a public art initiative for Luton Council’s Luton 2040 vision to transform lives through Art, Culture and Heritage. Working with a large number of stakeholders and community groups, including faith and ‘hard to reach’ communities, leading to the successful launch of a mosaic of over 1200 images submitted by members of the community. In addition, through her own publishing company she coordinated, produced and published a book of letters from women internationally that is given free to groups already working with young women at risk.

Maureen has experience in Charity governance as a Trustee and chair for a London based mental health charity leading it through significant changes within its leadership at board and operational levels, its rebranding and extension of services, as well as supporting other voluntary sector organisations to prepare for and apply for charitable status.
