Lou’s has over 16 years’ experience as a senior manager and director in the not for profit sector, with his most recent role as Managing Director of Groundwork South until Summer 2017.
Whilst at Groundwork, Lou achieved the merger of four charitable trusts to create one larger organisation of 150 staff. This involved the options appraisal of different charitable and social enterprise models as well as the administration of setting up new governance arrangements with Boards and sub committees. He also led the implementation of new systems and processes to achieve quality standards; ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHAS 1801.
His previous roles have involved leading mergers of charities and associated governance changes, implementing new organisational systems and quality procedures, as well as developing and managing programmes of work delivering charitable outcomes.
He has worked extensively with government departments, local authorities, voluntary organisations and the private sector on a range of different programmes including community engagement, environmental improvements and skills and employment.
Lou has good working knowledge of programme management from project initiation through to completion and evaluation. Examples of these programmes include the successful tender bid and management of a 5 year, £10m award winning community engagement programme with Southern Water. He was also responsible for overseeing the management of Groundwork’s landscape improvement works at Church Marshes in North Kent, and a £3m programme of local community play facilities in Oxford involving community engagement with over 30 different groups to help inform the design and improvement of their local facilities.
